It's a strong fit for anyone in a Snapdragon market who wants Ultra-adjacent performance without the Ultra price. It's a weaker fit for anyone in Exynos markets who specifically wants best-in-class single-core performance, since Notebookcheck's own benchmarking found the Exynos 2600 performs well behind the Snapdragon representatives in that specific metric.
The Exynos 2600 is a genuinely competitive chip this generation rather than a clear downgrade, built on a 2nm process with a real focus on AI acceleration — Notebookcheck's testing found it performs very well in Geekbench AI specifically, and Android Authority's own benchmarking found the Exynos variant actually ran marginally faster than the Snapdragon version in the later stages of a sustained thermal test. Gaming performance is a genuine, measured strength too: independent testing found the Exynos 2600 outperforming Snapdragon-based systems specifically in ray-tracing workloads, exceeding 110fps in performance mode. Android Authority's broader assessment is direct that this Exynos generation puts chips like Google's Tensor G5 to shame, a real step up from the Exynos 2400 two generations back. Display quality, camera hardware, and Samsung's 7-year OS and security update commitment all carry over unchanged from the more expensive Ultra.
Single-core CPU performance is the most consistently measured weakness of the Exynos variant — Notebookcheck's own benchmarking found it performs well behind Snapdragon-equipped phones in that specific test, even though multi-core scores are much closer. Sustained thermal performance under heavy gaming load is a genuine, measured concern too — independent testing found the chip reaching nearly 50°C after 30 minutes of demanding gameplay, triggering real thermal throttling. Android Authority's own assessment is candid that while Exynos has closed much of the gap, it will probably take another couple of generations to fully replace Snapdragon as Samsung's default choice. And the regional chipset split itself is a real, easily-missed trade-off for buyers — anyone importing a UK or EU unit into a Snapdragon market, or vice versa, ends up with genuinely different silicon than what local marketing and reviews describe.
