The biggest structural change isn't to the phones themselves but to when they arrive. Apple is reportedly splitting the iPhone 18 generation into two waves: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple's first foldable iPhone are expected in September 2026 as usual, while the standard iPhone 18, a new iPhone 18e, and a second-generation iPhone Air won't arrive until spring 2027.
